Anybody want 2 cats?

Life Lesson #327,896: Don't be impulsive about bringing a pet into your home, even if it's a cute little kitten and your child gets excited about it.

Life Lesson #327,897: If you're going to be impulsive about getting a kitten, for goodness sakes, don't be impulsive and take more than 1.

Life Lesson #327,898: If you impulsively bring 2 kittens into your home, they are a pain in the butt.

I've learned a lot in the past couple of months. If you're reading this entry, you must know Sara and me and how we thought it would be so fun to get kittens for Gabe. If you don't know us...I mean, seriously, don't you have anything better to be doing with your time?

Anyway, these cats are making me nuts.

I always wanted to have pets once we owned a house, and now that we own a house and have put so much work into it, it irks me to no end to watch these little monsters make a mess of everything. I've always wanted to have a dog some day, but... don't tell Sara...I think I'm changing my mind.

Google Video is Bumming Me Out

Okay, so I submitted new video A WEEK AGO, and it still isn't posted on google video. I'm beginning to not be so impressed.

In other news, not much is happening, just exhausted and feeling the need for a vacation. My brain just feels dried up, you know what I mean?

I'm reading a book called The Irresistible Revolution,by Shane Claiborn. It's actually pretty good...quick to read with content that really gives you a lot to chew on. Definitely a good book for generating discussion and consdering the things that are really supposed to be priorities in life. Pretty challenging stuff, but in a good way.

Anyway, I'm doing what I never wanted to do...journaling on my blog. I need to stop.

Directions for Google Video Embedding

I've been asked to share how to embed Google Video (as seen below). Here goes:
  • First you have to register with Google Video and download the software for uploading video files to Google Video. You can do that here.
  • Once you've uploaded a video file, you have to wait a couple days for the video to be screened, and then it's posted. Note: they won't send you an e-mail to let you know it's been posted, you just have to sign in and check.
  • Now to embed video into your blog, go to your video's site and click on the link that says: "Put on Site." This link opens a small box with code in it. Copy this code.
  • Now, if you use Blogger.com, when creating a new post, click on the "Edit Html" tab above where you type your entries. Then, paste the code wherever you want the video to appear in relation to the text. I pasted the code below these directions, which means you should see the video below.
Hope this was helpful.

I highly recommend reading this article...

Habits of Highly Effective Justice Workers - Christianity Today Magazine

One of the best articles I've ever read about social justice issues. A must-read.

Converted Blog-Hater

Okay, I've been making fun of family members and friends of family members (mostly behind their backs) for a long time now for being blog-nerds. Something about it was just too trendy. Something about it was just weird.

Then Sara, who became hooked on reading other people's blogs like they were some new reality TV show, started her blog and converted from a blog stalker to a blog-nerd-junkie.

Maybe it's contagious. Maybe I just needed something constructive to do while I was being neglected by my blog-fiendish wife. Maybe it was the discovery that I could embed video from Google video into my own blog. Yeah, that's what it was.

But it's official; Im crossing the line into blog-nerd-dom (hoping nobody's watching).

Our Blog

Hey family, friends, and random internet strangers! Welcome to our blog. We thought this would be a good way to keep all of you up-to-date with all that's happening with Gabe and our new house on the west side of Chicago. Feel free to comment, and stop by often.

Peace

Dan
